Super Saiyan Feminism

Wednesday, November 20, 2024, 7pm

Free RSVP here.

Maya Ben David is giving a 30-minute PowerPoint performance on all her deepest, most degenerate secrets. Just like a cabinet of curiosities, some facts are as real as ancient fossils, and some truths are desecrated, pulled out of context, and twisted for her amusement. Cookies will be served, and absurd pregnancy will be heavily discussed.

This event is a part of Montez Press Radio’s library residency titled A Word Misheard is a Thing Remade at Canal Projects. As a sub-resident, Random Man Editions will be working on new projects in the library space and is bringing in Maya Ben David to perform, Super Saiyan Feminism on-site at Canal Projects. This event will also serve as the closing party for Montez Press Radio’s library residency at Canal Projects, so bring a friend, have a drink and cookie, and lets get into some super saiyan feminism!

Maya Ben David: I make characters. Sometimes they are autobiographical, and sometimes they are lies. They’re usually fixated on the quiet depravity in women’s minds, but don’t put me in a box. I’m a Jewish-Iranian performance artist…wait, I said no more boxes. I may want to create an entire cinematic universe about a fictional group of people obsessed with Ferris wheels. Then perform as a modestly dressed Dullahan oil heiress who wants to talk about sexiness. I’m usually trying to find a new way to humiliate myself, forever a bimbo clown. Monster girls, voreaphilia, anthropomorphic creatures, absurd pregnancy, witchery, and world-building are sprinkled in most of my video art and live performances. My work straddles two different worlds, the art world and YouTube. I am most content when I am being validated by both.
